The Beauty Staples on My Dressing Table This Summer

Here’s some of my ‘can’t live without’ summer beauty staples.
One thing you won’t know about me yet is that I spent over 10 years working in the beauty industry. Two of my passions were always skincare and perfume. Skincare is an art that you have to be flexible with depending what your skin needs and perfume is a feeling, an emotion, a memory, and personal.
Beauty routines always change throughout the seasons. In summer you’re looking for products that feel lighter on your skin and protect you from the sun but in winter you’re looking for products that will moisturise and rehydrate during those colder months.
I’ve had a a few of my summer beauty staples that have been repurchases for me over the past few years and I will most likely continue to use.
THE SKIN TINT
One thing I’ve noticed about my skin is that it’s happiest with fewer and lighter products. I’m also prone to eczema around my eyes and scalp which means there’s a lot of products I can’t use. The Fenty Beauty Skin Tint is gentle and provides a light coverage whilst also giving a natural finish to the skin. I use shade 3 as I’m fair skinned but with a neutral undertone. It will blend nicely whether you use your fingers, a brush or a sponge to apply.
THE SUNSCREEN
This is one area I need to improve on as most sunscreens tend to irritate my skin unless I fully wash off after a few hours before reapplying. The Bioré Aqua Rich SPF 50 is one of the most lightweight sunscreens I’ve ever tried. It doesn’t feel like I have anything on but protects my skin so well.
THE HAIR TREATMENT
I recently purchased the Kerastase Blond Absolu Cicaplasme for my hair. I use this when my hair is damp before blow drying to protect from heat styling but also give my dyed blonde sections of hair a brightness boost. The first time I tried this, my hair was unbelievably soft especially considering it had been so dry after getting a balayage done. Even one of my colleagues at work noticed that my hair looked brighter and in a healthy condition.
THE HAIRSTYLER
I had stopped fully using my Dyson Airwrap for quite a while. What I’ve noticed is that because my hair absorbs moisture so quickly, if I follow the Dyson instructions to style when your hair is almost dry, my hair starts to get frizzy again once I’m done and then I have to finish with a straightener. So I’ve recently changed my routine. I now fully wash and dry my hair at night, then in the morning, use the Airwrap to style. The style now holds better, doesn’t get frizzy and is lighter and bouncier. I’ve re-fallen in love with the Airwrap.
THE FRAGRANCE
I knew I loved this fragrance when I worked in beauty and it was always a top recommendation for my customers. When I finally got the opportunity to own it I was ecstatic and it has now become a daily fragrance for me. It’s light, floral, and slightly fruity whilst also smelling fresh. It’s a beautifully feminine fragrance that’s delicate and not overpowering at all.
AS THE SEASONS CHANGE, MY ROUTINE WILL ALSO CHANGE. KEEP A LOOK OUT FOR MY NEXT SET OF RECOMMENDATIONS COMING UP.
